Marketing, Motherhood, and Mayhem

June 3rd, 2011 by Deb McLean

  1. Be human and ENGAGE your fans.  There’s a difference between talking to them and AT them.  Engaging them starts a conversation.
  2. Know what you want and know who YOU are – be authentic and transparent.  Your brand really has a chance to show fans more than “information” on Facebook.
  3. Listen and respond – never stop listening.  Your fans want to be heard
  4. Diversify and pace your content – provide value!  10% off isn’t value, a $5 lunch isn’t value – that’s marketing…but 50% off IS value!  FREE is value!
  5. Inject yourself into the conversation – participate!!
  6. Get feedback in real time – even to negative feedback.  Your fans want to know you care and you’re listening to them.  Respond to positive comments too!
  7. Know your audience
  8. Know the platforms
  9. Create a user-centric experience – share and inspire them to share their stories!  When one McDonald’s employee shared her experience it went viral…organically spreading the word about this great company
