Marketing, Motherhood, and Mayhem

April 8th, 2011 by Deb McLean

The hair on the back of my neck stands on end, when I hear, “I can’t do that.”  Whether it’s at work or from the mouth of my beloved daughter.  I believe in “Yes, I can.”

Too often we hear, “I can’t do that” from companies as well as people.  Are there some instances that that comment might ring true?  Certainly.

For instance, I can’t fly.

But, that’s not what I’m talking about.  It’s like someone saying, “I can’t learn Spanish.”  If a well functioning adult puts in sufficient time and effort, he or she will succeed.

It’s about wanting to find a solution.  Putting in the time, making an effort and overcoming your fear of failure.

I don’t accept for a minute that there’s some sort of natural limit on your ability to do just about anything.  I believe in people.  I believe in those around me and I certainly in my daughter and what she is capable of achieving.

Yes, we all can.
